2025-2026 APPLICATION FOR

NATIONAL FISHING IN SCHOOLS PROGRAM (NFSP)

Thank you for your interest in bringing NFSP to your school or organization. Every school must make application via this form to receive grant funding from CPW and participate in NFSP. 

To complete the application, you must have the following information:

1) The number of students your school anticipates will participate in NFSP yearly.

2) Approval from your school administration for an in-school fishing program. This includes approval to conduct NFSP in your school for no less than 3 years, and approval to have at least 1-2 teachers trained and certified to instruct students in the NFSP curriculum (this training is included in the program and grant.)

3) Which curriculum your school prefers: spincasting (“Cast A Lure, Catch A Student”) or fly fishing (“Cast A Fly, Catch A Student.”)

Although input is not required for each field below, the information provided will be evaluated. The grant awards are based on a school's need for financial assistantance and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT: CPW's/NFSP Grant requires administrative support to incorporate an in-class fishing program into the school day. The NFSP curriculum must be taught to students during the school day. After-school fishing clubs do not meet the requirements for this grant. However, the equipment can be used for after-school clubs in addition to the required in-class program.

EXPERIENCE: Describe any past experience the school has with fishing program(s):
Do any teachers anticipating involvement with NFSP at your school have fishing experience? If so, please describe their experience level and planned involvement. (NOTE: Prior fishing experience isn't a requirement to participate in NFSP.)

NFSP CERTIFICATION - at least one person at each school must be certified via the online self-study NFSP Level 1 Teacher Training Course provided on the LMS, NFSP CAST, prior to teaching the NFSP curriculum.

CROSS CURRICULAR OPPORTUNITY - Will NFSP have cross-curricular involvement with school subject matter? If so, what will that look like with the overall school curriculum goals?

VIABILIITY/SUSTAINABILITY - Describe how your school might support the viability/sustainability of the NFSP program. School support may include administration, staff, teachers, parents and after school programs.
