Volunteer Opportunities with CPSS/ Odyssey of the Mind

Thank you for considering volunteering with us! Our organization is completely run by volunteers, and we appreciate any time commitment you are able to make. It doesn't matter if you have only a few hours here or there or a huge chunk of time to spare, if you are ready for a more regular commitment like a couple of hours every week, or if you are interested in joining the board: we appreciate your time! It will make a difference to our organization, either way.

In case you are new to Odyssey of the Mind, we would like to give you one example of HOW MANY VOLUNTEERS WE NEED in order to smoothly run our tournaments. We require 80-100 volunteers covering shifts of 2-3 hours during the day. In addition we need around 70 volunteer judges who have to attend an all day training session and be available all day for both tournaments. And then there is all the work that has to be done ahead of time: planning and organizing, team registration, scheduling, volunteer recruitment and coordinating, preparing the problems for the Spontaneous Competitions, and finally getting the school ready for the tournament days.

But the tournaments are only two of the events we are organizing. We usually kick off the season with Fun Day (November), offer two Coaches' Trainings (November and January), Spontaneous Attack (February), and we also participate in multiple community events, such as the Vancouver Community Science Celebration at Science World (September) and the Vancouver E-Fest (March)
